Men lie. Women lie. Numbers that express blatant free throw discrepancies don't. John Wall has a point about referee treatment.
Before I go off sounding like an excuse generator, let's not get it twisted: the Wizards are playing like shit. They’re off. Their floor chemistry is out of sync. Their defense is inexplicably bad. But there's a particular frustration about the game that's been prolonging, particularly for Wall, which last night against Utah may have became a factor in their bad performance.
If you've been following John Wall's career to any degree you'll agree that the criminal treatment he gets from the refs with their lack of calls has been an ongoing issue for him.
In last night's loss to Utah, it wasn't just Wall who seemed to be invisible to the refs, but the team as a whole. At the half, the Jazz outshot the Wizards at the line 18 attempts to one. ONE. By game's end, the Wizards had earned just 13 trips to the line, while Utah's "no name guys" - as Wall described them - finished with 32 free throw attempts.
Check out John's entire post-game commentary on the whistle-swallowing. His body language pretty much says it all.
