Paul Pierce only spent one season with the Washington Wizards during the 2014-15 campaign, but that time was well spent and helped mold the game and mind of John Wall. The Truth is now an analyst for ESPN where he shared the following comments on Wall.
“I am not guarding John Wall [laughs]," Pierce said. "Why would I have any reason to guard him? No way.”
“First off, he’s so fast and dynamic," Pierce responded when asked how do you not get embarrassed by John Wall. You can’t get up on him, that’s when he drives to the hole and dunk on you with the left, with the right. He has the handles of a small guy even though he stands 6-3. He has the speed of an NFL running back so you pretty much have to give him space and let him shoot the jumper. If not, he’ll embarrass you all night. That is why I consider him THE best point guard in the league."
“It’s equivalent to ‘The Flash,’" Pierce described Wall's speed. "I mean, this guy, he’s a blur in the open court. This guy is probably the fastest end to end with the ball."
“You’re pretty much at his mercy," Pierce explained about Wall running at you. "Expect to be on SportsCenter that night."
“Personally, I have not been embarrassed by John Wall," Pierce said thankfully. "I was 36-years old when I played for the Wizards. Why would I want to practice and try to guard this young, dynamic point guard? No way."
