With the NBA trade deadline on Thursday at 3 p.m., Washington Wizards power forward Markieff Morris fielded questions about the experience and more.
On the trade deadline potentially impacting the team:
“Shootaround was normal. It's got to be normal. Early on it’s a little quiet, but once guys are in the gym, it’s still a job. At the end of the day, whatever happens, you still got to be professional about it and keep pushing.”
On being traded two years ago:
“I knew there was a good chance I might get traded, but it’s just one of those things, you never know. Especially, when it’s your first time. You used to being one place and it just happens. I been there when they say we trading one guy and six guys get traded. So, I must have seen it all.”
On playing against his brother:
“I’m about to go pick him up from shootaround [in Georgetown]. He’s going to stay at my house, take a nap, ride in to the game together. He stayed their last night and the night before, [just] last night, my fault.”
On Isaiah Thomas traded to the Lakers:
“I just heard about it. It's not surprising for real, for real, with their struggles. There was just a lot being said. That's how it goes when you talk your way out of town. I feel like that's what happened.”
On the ongoing drama surrounding the team:
“At the end of the day, we gotta be men. Whatever was said on social media and whatever was said on TV, you gotta be with these guys every day," Morris said. "We've gotta silence all the outsiders. It's not as deep as it seems. You'd be a fool to say that we're better without Wall. It don’t even make sense. That's how most of the guys feel. I don't even know how that occurred or how that even got out like that.”
On the splint on his left hand/wrist:
“Yeah, just got a little tangled with Embiid when I got that tech. Sprained it a little bit. It don’t matter.”
