After defeating the Lakers the previous night the Wizards were unable to complete the LA sweep, falling to the Clippers 133-124. Bradley Beal tied Antawn Jamison for second all-time on the Wizards franchise list of three pointers. Here are my takeaways from last night’s game.

Quick Hits:

  • John Wall for MVP.

I seriously don’t get why the league hasn’t bestowed the highest honor on the #WallStar. Do they ever get tired of the Lebron James’, the Kevin Durant’s, the Steph Curry’s? Wall has had a great road trip thus far. He had 37 points and 11 rebounds in their win over the defending champs on Saturday. Tuesday, Wall dropped 34 points and 14 assists. Last night was his best night of the trip with 41 points.

  • Another bad 3rd quarter.

Like I stressed yesterday, you can’t win in the playoffs if you don’t play the full 48 minutes. It may not have looked like it in the scorebook as the score in just that frame was 36-35 Clippers but at one point the Clippers led by 19 points which gave the Wizards a big hole to try to climb out of. You can’t rally from a double-digit deficit every night.

  • Bench production.

Jason Smith said if the Wizards win 50 games, he will dance. Last night he was playing like he just ordered a new pair of dancing shoes and it’s just a matter of time before they come in the mail. He led the bench with 14 points including four of them from three-point land. Kelly Oubre continued to have a great road trip as he scored 10 points.

Highlights:

Kelly Oubre putback over Paul Pierce. Remember him?
